Nobody was lying when they said yes. The value was real and the agreement was real. What was missing was one thing that would have let it carry itself.
A spoken yes can create behaviour. It launches activity, produces compliance, secures a purchase, obtains formal approval. But borrowed alignment does not yet carry the next decision.
An owned yes has conditions underneath it. It can travel, survive reduced supervision, and support the next decision.
That is the practical value. Not a new vocabulary for the same reflex, but a different thing to do on Monday morning.
Build the Next turns the lens into practice. Locate where progress loses its ability to continue. Build what the next yes depends on. Test it in reality rather than assuming it worked.
Where is movement losing its ability to continue?
What needs to become possible before the next step can carry?
Put something into reality and read what comes back.
The fields stay different. Their owners, their evidence and what they need next stay different. What repeats is the question.
They understood the value and still did not choose. You can close a sale. You cannot close someone else's choice.
Progress here is a choice that becomes the customer's own. Read it →The organisation's yesFull of activity, and still standing still. The townhall yes was a spoken yes, not an owned one.
Progress here is movement that continues without being pushed. Read it →The room's yesGood work gets used, and still does not count. Used is not carried.
Progress here is work others begin to carry. Read it →The authority to actThe system was right, and nobody stood behind it. Correctness is not legitimacy.
Progress here is action that inherits legitimate authority. Read it →The fastest way to understand the lens is to point it at something you are actually carrying right now.
Counted On names the real reason, and gives you a practice to close the gap. For capable people whose work is trusted, but not yet counted on where it matters.
You cannot make yourself counted on. You can only build what makes it possible.
Yes, I want to keep reading the work.
